Government Funding Eligibility Checker

Check what free childcare hours and financial support you're entitled to. Covers 15 and 30 hours funding, Tax-Free Childcare, and benefits-based schemes in England and Scotland.

Based on UK childcare guidance and 2025/26 data

The UK government funds between 15 and 30 hours of free childcare per week, depending on the child's age, the parents' work status, and household circumstances. In England, working parents of children aged 9 months to 4 years can access 30 funded hours per week (1,140 hours/year), provided both parents earn between £6,282 and £100,000 per year. In Scotland, all 3-4 year olds receive 1,140 hours regardless of work status.

Additional funding is available for 2-year-olds from families receiving Universal Credit (household income under £15,400/year), Income Support, JSA, or ESA — and for children with an Education, Health and Care plan, DLA, or in local authority care. Our guides on free childcare hours and 30 hours eligibility explain each scheme in detail.

This tool checks which funding schemes apply to your family based on a few questions about your situation.

This tool provides guidance estimates only. Eligibility, funding, and costs can vary by location and individual circumstances.
